This research discusses legal protection for victims of extortion on online dating applications in Batam City as a response to the increasing number of extortion cases. The study explores effective legal measures to protect victims using Law No. 11 of 2008 on Electronic Information and Transactions and the Indonesian Penal Code. The primary focus involves analyzing law enforcement efforts, the regulation of online dating in Indonesia, as well as technological measures and public awareness. Utilizing established legal principles, as taught by legal expert Soerjono Soekanto, this research provides insights into how to formulate a comprehensive legal framework. The study employs empirical legal research methods with a qualitative approach. The results are expected to help create a safer online environment and involve collaboration between authorities, application providers, and the community in protecting extortion victims in this city.
