This research examines the Shopee "COD Check First" feature introduced by the Shopee e-commerce platform as part of the evolution of trade law in an effort to optimize consumer protection. The disparity in the application of cash on delivery payment methods between traditional trade transactions and online trade on Shopee gives rise to problems where the application of cash on delivery on Shopee is vulnerable to fraud which is detrimental to buyers because buyers have to pay for the product first without knowing whether the product sent is in accordance with the agreement or not. No. This research was conducted with the aim of examining the disparity in the application of the cash on delivery payment method between traditional trade transactions and online trade on Shopee based on a commercial law perspective. This research was conducted through a normative juridical method using a statutory approach. The research results show that Shopee's "COD Check First" feature reflects e-commerce's efforts to comply with the principles of commercial law stated in the Civil Code because Shopee helps enforce sellers' obligations to provide goods that are intact and match the description provided. Shopee's "COD Check First" feature has the advantage of providing additional protection to consumers, giving consumers greater control over their transactions, and reducing the risk of fraud and trade practices that are detrimental to consumers. However, Shopee's "COD Check First" feature also has obstacles in the form of acceptance from sellers, handling product returns, and consumer understanding and acceptance.
