The development of trade today is increasingly rapid, supported by advances in telecommunications and information technology, thus expanding the space for transactions in various goods and services, including within the scope of lifestyle. The large variety on offer, such as imported used clothing that can be purchased at low prices from well-known brands, has made this trend popular among various groups. Business actors trading used imported goods (Thrifting) use this as a way to make a profit. However, this has an impact on consumers, including regarding quality. This study aims to analyze the legal protection applied to the trade of imported used clothing (thrifting) in Indonesia, as well as its impact on consumers. The phenomenon of thrifting has become a popular trend, but it has the potential to cause harm to consumers in terms of quality, health, and safety. The research method used is empirical, through interviews and surveys with consumers and business actors. The results of the study indicate that legal protection for consumers in the trade of imported used clothing is still inadequate. Many consumers lack understanding of their rights and the available complaint mechanisms. Additionally, law enforcement against business actors who violate regulations is not yet optimal. This study suggests the need for increased socialization and education for consumers, as well as strengthened supervision and law enforcement by the government to ensure that the trade of imported used clothing can proceed safely and fairly.
