This research discusses the validity of making closed wills recorded electronically in Indonesia. In the current digital era, changes in the use of technology are inevitable. This affects various aspects of human life, including the way wills are made. Several countries, such as the United Kingdom, have issued regulations allowing the electronic recording of closed wills, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in Indonesia, there are no regulations governing the validity of electronic wills, making this practice invalid and potentially causing various legal issues. The research results indicate that there are no legal regulations or laws governing the creation of deeds through electronic media, thus these deeds are not authentic. The conclusion is that a closed will recorded electronically and made without the presence of a Notary is not an authentic deed and cannot be equated with an underhand deed. In the increasingly digitized global context, it is important for Indonesia to consider and learn from the policies of the United Kingdom. Nevertheless, before broader adoption, in-depth research and understanding of the legal implications, security, and risks of manipulation associated with electronic wills are required. Therefore, even though developed countries like the United Kingdom have updated their legal frameworks to accommodate electronic wills, Indonesia must carefully consider the legal implications before taking similar steps.
